opportunity knocks

recently, on a whim, i applied to a 2 week internship with katy rodriguez to help with la fashion week - and i got it! should be interesting. very interesting indeed.

regaining ownership

this past year has been a bit dizzying for me. what with starting from square one (again) at a new school, and commuting and adjusting to living back at home, i've experienced quite a few changes.

my mom recently asked me if i missed fashion. to her surprise, as well as mine, the answer was no. it was strange to realize that although i love fashion, i had always known that i would not be in the heart of fashion for the rest of my life. i feel so much relief after being able to let go of preset goals and accept that my life was going to change - and for the better. i know now that fashion will be a part of my life if i truly want it to be. but i also know that my life is my own. i can live wherever and do whatever, whenever i want to. it's the most liberating realization. and even though it's 3am and i'm up doing homework, i have regained ownership of my life.

seasons change

I just got done revamping my blog (which i rarely use) and figured, since i put out all this effort to change it - why not write in it?

a quick recap on my summer...
spent a great deal of my summer planning a huge surprise party for my grandmother's 76th birthday. it was a huge undertaking considering we pulled it together in a month and a half for 300 people. it was definitely stressful at times, but i loved it. perhaps event planning is in my future? we shall see.

i also started working at white house|black market shortly after we wrapped up the party. i only worked there for a month and a half, but i absolutely loved working there. it was such a refreshing feeling to look forward to going to work in a positive environment with truly great girls. and the 40% discount didn't hurt either.

after my short stint at white house|black market, i turned 21. celebrations included dinner at napa rose, one of my favorite restaurants with family and friends and a short trip to vegas with truly fabulous friends. the day of my birthday, we went out for my birthday dinner. delicious food and dessert and fine company made for a fantastic birthday dinner. the day after, a bunch of us drove out to vegas for a combined birthday celebration of my birthday and joyce's. we checked in for our first night at the palms in their exclusive party g-suite which included a bar, a stripper pole shower (the guys seemed quite a bit more talented on the stripper pole than one might have imagined), an amazing view of the strip, a pool table, and fantastic bathrooms. lots of alcohol was consumed. at night we went to pure, which was way too hot and we left immediately. then we went to tao which was way too crowded and left after an hour and a half or so. we hit a few all-you-can-eat buffets, gambled a bit (i won $13!), window shopped, and then checked into mandalay bay's THehotel for the second night. we tanned, consumed more alcohol, and then went to blush where ladies got free champagne (yum) and we all got in for free. score! thanks joyce! and that was vegas. i definitely want to go again.

basically, vegas was the close of my summer. it was a nice way to round it off before school started. My school year is now in full swing, and i must say that i'm pleasantly surprised by how much i love my classes. for all the stress and confusion that changing majors was, i think that i will enjoy the path i chose.

i think this is a sufficient enough post to make up for my inconsistent posting habits, don't you?
